About the series
The Diaspora Series calls attention to where the conversation around slavery has stalled—and what’s been overlooked since. Built around five Adinkra symbols, the series moves from under-acknowledged history and contributions after emancipation, into a harder present-day reflection, and closes by pointing toward principles worth carrying forward. The aim is direct: to clarify, educate, challenge, and ultimately push growth.

This shirt features a detail from “except for god.” The work confronts the current state of our culture with an emphasis on personal responsibility—how everyday choices can reinforce instability, and how self-destructive patterns become normalized. It acknowledges external pressures without allowing them to dominate the conversation. The tone is intentionally uncomfortable, because real awareness isn’t built in comfort.
Released in honor of Black History Month, this is a limited-time way to collect a piece of the installation in wearable form—something that has not been available to own before.
